Exciting African Continent trading as Exciting Africa is a South African based private company (Pty Ltd) with registration number 2013/124800/07 and owned/run by Annika Haslecker and Beat Jaggi.

Booking Confirmation and Invoices

Bookings are confirmed by reception of payment (deposit or the full sum); all payments are directly forwarded to the service providers to secure the reservations. If not the full amount but a deposit has been paid to secure the booking, the remaining amount is due to be paid normally no less than 6 weeks before the stay, flight or activity booked.

By paying an invoice the client accepts Exciting Africa’s terms and conditions as set out herewith.

For South African hotels/safaris/service providers the client can choose to pay Rand into our South African bank account or Euros into our Finnish bank account. Invoices sent in Euros are based on the exchange rate below, which is the official rate from First National Bank (FNB), one of the leading South African bank institutes. The rate indicates the amount of Rand per foreign currency unit on the date of issuance of the invoice.

The respective cancellation policy of each establishment or service provider (hotel/lodge/guest house etc.) does apply. All the cancellation policies will be provided on the invoice and again on the confirmation.

Travel insurance

Exciting Africa does not offer Travel Insurance. Please check that you are comprehensively insured for illness/accident or cancellation from confirmation of your booking onwards and during the entire duration of your trip.

Liability

The information given on our website is for general information purposes only. While we try to keep the information up to date and correct, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, availability, suitability or reliability with respect to the information, products, services, or graphics contained on the website for any purpose. All pictures are representations only and all data and prices are subject to change without notice. Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk. Exciting African Continent and its directors and employees shall not be liable for any loss, damage or expense of any nature whatsoever as a result of the use of or reliance upon our Website.

Exciting African Continent acts as an agent in putting together tailor-made tours or booking accommodations and other travel arrangements, utilizing the products of various travel suppliers. While Exciting African Continent makes every effort to engage quality suppliers among the hotels, safari lodges and other service providers and to ensure that the various services will be carried out efficiently and as specified, it does not have direct control over the provision of services by suppliers and shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, additional cost, accident, delay, irregularity that may be occasioned by any error or default, act or omission of any supplier in carrying out the arrangements. Exciting African Continent accepts no liability for changes, omissions, cancellations or delays before or during the course of the travel and service arrangement occasioned by technical difficulties, communication breakdowns, weather conditions, force majeure events (like pandemics, strikes, Acts of God) or other events beyond the control of Exciting African Continent or its service providers. All expenses occasioned by the changed circumstances or cancelled services and provisions, including but not limited to unscheduled extensions, curtailment or cancellations of accommodation, changes to scheduled flights, additional airfares, telephone and meal costs, etc, will be for the customer’s account.

Some of the services sold by us inherently have a high risk factor involved for the customer (safari, flying, diving) and we take no responsibility for the consequences of the customer taking on such risks.

Covid-19, other pandemics and extraordinary situations

If a booking has to be cancelled due to Covid-19, another pandemic or another extraordinary situation after it has been paid partly or in full, we do our utmost to either refund you or postpone your trip to a later date. We can only refund what we are paid back from our partners and service providers and this overrules the usual cancellation policies. 

Data protection

We shall treat all personal information you give us as strictly confidential and no personal information will be made available to unauthorized third parties, unless obliged to do so by law or legal process.

Law and jurisdiction

All matters arising from or in connection with these terms and conditions and any construction, validity and performance of a contract between the client and Exciting African Continent shall be governed in all aspects by the laws of the Republic of South Africa and the jurisdiction of its courts.
