Kariega Game Reserve is a family-owned and operated private game reserve stretching across 10,000 hectares of different eco-systems (riverine forest, valley bushveld, savannah grassland, fynbos and acacia woodlands).
It is malaria-free and home to 25 species of game including the big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo). Two beautiful rivers make this park completely unique.
Guests can complement their safari experience with a boat cruise down the Kariega River sighting abundant river birdlife, or take a kayak onto the river for a quiet paddle.
The family friendly Main Lodge consists of 21 log-constructed chalets, and offers families, friends and couples a relaxed and friendly environment to enjoy the African bush.
All the log chalets are air conditioned, with en-suite bedrooms and large private viewing decks (some even have their own little pool).
Each has a spacious lounge and living area with fire place and satellite TV.
The lodge has been expertly integrated with the surrounding bush to create a natural environment where guests can enjoy traditional meals in the restaurant or boma, a drink at the bar or a quiet a swim in the pool.
