Tailor-made tours and safaris to Rwanda and Uganda
We also organize tours to see the gorillas and chimpanzees in Rwanda and Uganda – this is the ultimate wildlife experience!
About Rwanda and Uganda
You can trek the mountain gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park (this is the Rwandan part of the Virunga Mountains that border Uganda and the DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo) or in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.
Gorilla trekking permits are very limited and it is advisable to plan your holiday long ahead.
The Parks Board puts you in small groups of 8 people and your group is allocated one group/family of habituated gorillas (meaning they are used to human visitors). Together with your guide and tracker who know the family well you go in search of them and once you find them you are allowed 1 hour in their presence.
You should be reasonably fit for this experience; even if you trek at a slow pace because of the altitude, you might need to walk for some hours and at times up or down some steep slopes. Encounters cannot be guaranteed, but to see them is unforgettable….
You can of course also combine this truly unique experience with a classical safari; either in the Akagera National Park in Rwanda, the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda or of course in any of the famous parks in Tanzania for example, like the Ngorongoro Crater or the Serengeti.
And last but not least why not ending your East Africa holiday with some relaxing days on the beach? The gorgeous islands of the Zanzibar archipelago won’t disappoint you.
Seasons and climate
The weather patterns in Africa are changing like everywhere else, but as a rough guide we can say:
March to May: Long rainy season
June to September: Dry season (best months to travel)
October to November: Short rainy season
December to February: short dry season
However during the dry seasons you also might experience some light rain showers and quite often clouds.
Both countries are on respectively just below the Equator and due to the altitude generally offer a quite pleasant tropical (highland) climate year-round.
