About Namibia

Namibia is a vast country between the Namib and the Kalahari Desert, more than double the size of Germany, with a population of only 2 Mio. people. Endless horizons, space, sun and silence are amongst the qualities that draw visitors to the country.

Some of the Namibia’s highlights are the Etosha National Park in the north, the Namib desert stretching along Namibia’s entire coastline, the Kalahari desert in the east bordering Botswana and South Africa, the Atlantic coastline town of Swakopmund with its German history and influence and the mighty Fish River Canyon in the south, the African version of the American Grand Canyon.

You can easily drive yourself in Namibia and driving is easy: the roads are good and empty. Very few roads are tarred however and distances can be long. It is important to fill up petrol whenever you can and make sure you always have enough drinking water in the car while you travel.

Seasons and climate

Namibia is one of the driest countries in Southern Africa and fine to visit all year round.  April to September is winter and cooler. October to March is quite hot and January and February can see a bit of rain but mainly in the north.

Namibia Highlights:

  • Etosha National Park
  • Namib Desert
  • Kalahari Desert
  • Swakopmund
  • Fish River Canyon
